AMEA Negotiations Update: Full-Time Tentative Agreement Reached!

AMEA members at a City Council Meeting.

Dear AMEA member,

After months of negotiations, your AMEA Negotiations Team has reached a tentative agreement with the City of Anaheim.

This agreement delivers 12% in wage increases over two years, a new longevity pay program, and improvements across more than 20 contract articles.

Thank you to all the members, Board members, Negotiations team members and staff who helped us reach a tentative agreement. This contract will create wage increases and workplace improvements that will benefit generations of AMEA workers to come.

Some highlights include:

Wages

  • 9% general wage increase, retroactive to July 4, 2025
  • 3% general wage increase effective July 1, 2026

New Longevity Pay

Starting July 2026, employees will receive an additional:

  • 3% of base pay upon completing 10 years of service
  • 6% of base pay upon completing 20 years of service

This is a first for AMEA and rewards those long-serving employees who have dedicated their careers to the City.

Other Key Wins

  • Bereavement Leave increased from 3 to 5 days
  • One additional floating holiday per calendar year
  • Compensatory Time accrual increased to 120 hours per fiscal year
  • City contribution to RHS increased by 1% of base compensation

The full Tentative Agreement can be viewed at the bottom of this message.

Your Work Made This Possible

AMEA members submitted a record number of proposals that directly shaped this agreement. Additionally, Board meeting attendance throughout negotiations was consistently high, with even non-Board members showing up month after month.

Most importantly, WHEN WE CALLED FOR ACTION, YOU RESPONDED.

At the last City Council Meeting, nearly 40 AMEA members showed up to the closed session on a workday. You took time off. You adjusted your schedules. You spoke during public comment about vacancies, about colleagues lost to other cities, about what fair compensation means for you and your families.

Click here for video highlights. We are proud to say the City Council heard you.

What’s Next
