Leadership Change at AMEA

AMEA Navy Logo

Dear AMEA members,

Effective today, Jonnae Barreras has resigned her position as AMEA President. We want to take a moment to thank Jonnae for her many years of dedicated service and her outstanding contributions to our Association.

Jonnae has been a steadfast advocate for AMEA members since first joining the Board of Directors in 2009. Over the years, she advanced through key Executive Board roles and was active in countless initiatives that strengthened our collective voice. We are grateful for her leadership in this volunteer position and wish her the very best in all her future endeavors.

Per our AMEA Bylaws, the First Vice President automatically steps into the role of President for the remainder of the term, which ends in December. I, Jason Perez, have assumed the role of interim AMEA President.

This succession ensures uninterrupted representation and continued progress on all matters important to our members. The entire Executive Board and I remain fully committed to the same high standards of transparency, advocacy, and member service that you both expect and deserve.

You may not know me. I’ve worked in Anaheim since 2015 as a Community Services Coordinator for the Neighborhood Services program. I have advocated on your behalf since joining the AMEA Board of Directors in 2018. I joined the Executive Board in 2023 as First Vice-President and I serve as PAC Chair.

I am honored to continue my work with your Executive Board in this new role.

You will continue to receive all regular communications, meeting notices, and updates through our usual channels. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly at president@anaheimamea.com or call me at 818-268-5427 with questions or concerns. I’m here for you.

Thank you for your continued trust and support.

In Solidarity,

Jason Perez
AMEA President
