March 2026 Board Meeting Recap

AMEA Navy Logo

Dear AMEA member,

Thank you to all Board of Directors members who joined us at last week’s Board meeting. Here’s a recap of what you may have missed at our March 2026 meeting:

CLASS & COMP STUDY

AMEA received preliminary information on the classification and compensation study in January. Since then, we have been meeting and conferring with the City to discuss implementation. The City intended to proceed with Phase 1 implementation that would have impacted 4 classifications. AMEA believes there are other classifications below market, and we requested a pause until we can review the full report. Unfortunately, the City is refusing to provide us with a full copy of the study so that we can evaluate their implementation plan. We want to make sure this is done correctly and are exploring all options to compel the City to release this information. We will continue to update you when we have more information.

AMEA EXECUTIVE BOARD

The Secretary position on the Executive Board is open. With AMEA Executive Board member Jason Perez becoming Interim President, members Steven Goodwin and Heather Madrick are now AMEA’s first and second vice president, respectively. Nominations and the election for the seat will be done by our Board of Directors during our April meeting.

THE BIG GIVE

AMEA members, OCEA staff, and volunteers from the nonprofit “I Love Anaheim” gave their time to serve hot dogs and help with neighborhood cleanup at The Big Give in mid-March. The event, organized by the City Manager’s office, brought out community members, City staff, and elected officials. Anaheim Council members Norma Campos Kurtz and Carlos Leon stopped by to see us at the Hot Dog Wagon.

As a reminder, your AMEA Board of Directors meets at 5:30 p.m. on the last Thursday of every month where we share union news and updates and provide you access to the people who have an impact on your job and working conditions.

In Solidarity,

AMEA
